The Silver Shadow is a great trekking umbrella that provides protection from the sun and rain when you’re out and about. A low weight and easy to use design make this a great alternative to waterproofs.

Our Verdict

Six Moon Design’s Silver Shadow Carbon Umbrella provides a good amount of coverage from the sun and rain. Although a lot of the design features such as the reflective silver top and black underside are more aimed at sun protection (along with the UPF 50+ rating) this umbrella stands up well to rain too. It’s size means that it is susceptible to gusts of wind, on calmer days it is a great piece of kit.

The simple foam handle is comfortable to grip while the umbrella opens and closes with ease. The carbon frame reduces the weight, compared to the standard fibre glass frame by over 50g. For anyone who counts grams more than pounds this is obviously the one to choose.
