The Crotch Pot is the ultimate fuel-less ultralight backpacking stove. It is climate change friendly, because it has zero carbon monoxide hazards. It is constructed out of ultralight Tyvek material, and attaches to any pant with belt loops. This camp stove is designed to accept a quart size freezer Ziploc type bag, so your dinner contents are completely sanitary at all times.

Our Verdict

Hear at ultralight, we are all about saving every gram we can, and the crotch pot really takes this to the next level. Relying on your body heat to heat a dehydrated meal may be too far for some of us, but this could be a hard-core ultra-light hiker’s new favourite piece of gear.

It’s smaller than I imagined; you won’t get a standard freeze-dried meal bag in there (you would probably do yourself a mischief if you could, so its probably for the best), so you have to decant the meal and water into a zip-lock bag and place it on the inside of your trousers, next to your … crotch, yes, really. The heat from your body will, over time, warm the meal. You will need to bring additional zip-locked bags, weight that could be used to bring, say, a pocket rocket.

A fabulous product for gram counters and those of us who don’t like to share food.
