Our Verdict

At 646g (medium), the Terravia 22l strikes a thoughtful balance between minimalist design and practical functionality. The mesh back panel and shoulder straps do a great job of keeping airflow moving — something I noticed on warmer outings. While the back and straps aren’t heavily padded, this isn’t a pack designed for gear hauling. 

Storage is intuitive: two stretch side pockets easily accommodate even the largest of water bottles, and the main compartment is straightforward, featuring a hydration sleeve and a top-access valuables pocket. The hip belt pockets are small — I would have liked a bit more room there, but they work well for snacks. The included rain cover stashes away neatly and works well. I’ve also come to appreciate the front bungee: ideal for lashing a jacket or compressing the pack when it’s not full.

Made from recycled fabrics and built in a Fair Trade-certified factory, it’s also a genuinely low-impact choice without compromising on practicality. If you’re after a compact, reliable pack with standout breathability and a solid ethical pedigree, this one’s well worth a look.

• Breathable, lightweight airmesh on the raised back panel and the underside of the shoulder straps keeps you cool and comfortable throughout the day
• Hip belt helps distribute the pack weight and has side pockets for small items
• Pack interior has an internal divider along with a zippered top pocket and a key clip, and the pack face has a drop-in pocket
• Internal hydration reservoir sleeve and pass-through sits between the shoulder straps so the tube can be routed over either shoulder, and dual side pockets fit full-sized water bottles
• Exterior bungee lattice allows you to carry an extra layer or compress the whole pack, or it can be easily removed to save weight, repair or customize your trip needs
• Removable rain cover is included and stows in an exterior pocket at the bottom of the pack
• Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory, which means the people who made this product earned a premium for their labor
