The Dynamo give you a lightweight, protective pair of wind pants that you can keep in your pack for changing weather conditions and emergencies without losing space or carrying much extra weight.

Our Verdict

Montbell’s Dynamo Wind Pants are a great piece of kit for having in your pack to protect you from the wind. At such a low weight there are just a few features but these include an elasticated waistband with a drawstring, a small inner key pocket, ankle zippers and a stuff sack. These pants do a great job of cutting out the wind and provide some protection against light rain. There is no warmth in terms of insulation but that’s not what they are for. 

They are certainly easy to pull over trail shoes and mid-boots so you can quickly protect your legs. The 11 inch ankle zippers make access easy even when having to stand up and balance. However, the fit of the legs is really wide. There is a lot of excess material for anyone thinking of using them for running but they are fine if you’re hiking or just like a roomier fit.
