Our Verdict

Weighing 479g, packing down to 31 × 9 cm ( you can easily pack it smaller), the updated 2024 Helium Bivy retains its lightweight appeal while adding thoughtful refinements. The bluesign-approved Pertex Shield Diamond Fuse fabric feels durable without compromising packability, and the 40D TPU-laminated floor holds up well when camping on rougher ground. The single overhead pole gives just enough headspace without complicating setup, and the clamshell-style opening is quick to manage even in less-than-ideal weather.

The no-see-um mesh panel is a nice addition, keeping midges at bay while offering a welcome airflow option on warmer nights. I’ve found condensation management reasonable in cooler, drier conditions, though it can build up in more humid climates—something to bear in mind if bivvying regularly in damp environments.

At 208 cm long, it’s fine for me, but it could feel a bit close for anyone taller or with a bulkier sleep system. Still, it’s proven reliable for ultralight trips where speed and simplicity are key, offering a reassuring blend of protection and portability without unnecessary complexity.
