Our Verdict

The updated Outdoor Research Ferrosi Hoodie remains a solid midlayer for fast-paced, cooler weather trips. At 373g in medium, it’s light enough to stash when the weather clears, but the new all-over Ferrosi fabric adds durability without needing overlays. It sheds wind well and offers enough resistance to light rain to buy time before reaching for a shell. The mechanical stretch is one of its standout features—great for climbing. The fit is trim but not restrictive, and features like the stowable hood and stretch cuffs give it a considered finish that strikes the right balance between function and simplicity.
