The Talon is a hugely popular pack due to the successful combination practical features, low weight and excellent levels of comfort. The Talon 36 is an ideal size for big mountain days, winter day trips and super lightweight overnight trips.

The Talon 36 is adept at overnight trips and ultralight ascents. An injection-moulded AirScape™ backpanel and a continuous-wrap harness and hipbelt allow the pack to move with you when navigating demanding terrain. This mid-volume pack features a top-loading main compartment, stretch mesh side pockets, a hydration reservoir sleeve, along with trekking pole and ice axe attachment points. Constructed with high-quality bluesign®-approved recycled high-tenacity nylon with a PFC-free DWR coating.

Our Verdict

Osprey’s Talon 36 Litre Rucksack is packed full of features that make it stand out from many other packs in the market. One area it performs brilliantly in is the level of comfort it delivers. The foam padding in the AirScape back panel works really well to allow air to flow through and reduce your temperature and the discomfort that comes with a sweaty back. It is also soft enough to be comfortable with a full load while strong enough to stop anything digging into your back. The perforated foam used in the shoulder straps has a similar effect and they combine really well to maximise comfort.

The 36L capacity is great for storing plenty of extra layers for winter trips, ideal for all everything you’d want for a big day out on the mountains and if you can pack super lightweight it works well for fast and light overnight adventures too. It’s also still a manageable size for everyday use if you carry a lot around with you. The pack is loaded with features from the stretch mesh side and back pockets to the well sized hip belt pockets, the Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachment points to hydration options. Little details like the extra large zip pulls makes use with gloves on much easier. There are attachment points and compression straps to personalise how you get the most out of this pack.
