Our Verdict

For those who require a reliable power source on the trail, the Nitecore NB10000 Gen 3 Power Bank is a brilliant choice. Weighing just 150 grams, it’s one of the lightest power banks on the market, yet it doesn’t compromise capacity or functionality. The 10,000mAh battery is more than sufficient for multiple charges, and the dual USB-C ports offer impressive flexibility, allowing you to charge two devices simultaneously.

However, having access to only USB-C ports can be limiting; for example, my watch lead requires a standard USB port, so this should be considered before purchase. 

The NB10000 Gen 3 shines carbon fibre casing and provides durability without adding unnecessary weight, making it perfect for ultralight backpackers. Despite its minimalist design, the power bank packs plenty of features. The IPX5 rating ensures it can withstand a splash or two, so you won’t need to panic if caught in the rain. The four blue LED indicators are handy, clearly showing the remaining battery life.

In my experience, the NB10000 Gen 3’s performance on the trail is exceptional. It easily charged my smartphone and GPS and even boosted a fellow hiker’s headlamp without running out of juice. The inclusion of multiple safety protections, like overcharge and thermal protection, further adds to the peace of mind, especially when you’re far from civilisation.
