Our Verdict

The Nalgene HDPE Wide Mouth Storage Bottles have quietly earned a spot in my kit, proving their worth on everything from wild camps to multi-day backpacking trips. Available in 30, 60, 125, and 250 ml sizes, they’re compact, durable, and well-suited to liquids and dry goods. I’ve been using the 30 ml bottle for oils, sauces, and spice blends as my outdoor cooking has become a bit more adventurous—it’s the perfect size for a few days’ worth, and slips into the corner of a food bag without taking up any real space.

The larger bottles come into their own for carrying things like washing-up liquid, sun cream, or powdered drink mixes. Despite their low weight (only 11 g for the smallest), they’re solid in hand and seal tightly—I’ve yet to experience a leak, even when they’ve been rattling around in my pack all day.

Thanks to the wide mouth, cleaning and refilling is quick and mess-free, and they’re easy to label if you’re carrying a mix of contents. For something so unassuming, they punch well above their weight in terms of usefulness.
