Our Verdict

The Mammut Ducan II High GTX is a solid choice for hikers who value lightweight design paired with advanced support and solid waterproofing. 

The Ducan II feels light underfoot at 525g per boot (UK size 8.5) yet provides impressive stability, thanks to Mammut’s Flextron technology and a spring steel sole that supports a natural walking motion. The Vibram outsole delivers dependable grip on uneven terrain, while the GORE-TEX lining ensures feet remain dry in wet conditions. I found the elastic tongue construction particularly effective in providing a close fit, preventing dirt and debris from slipping inside.
