Our Verdict

At just over 1,000g, the Ducan 26 carries surprisingly well thanks to its air space back system, which lifts the pack slightly off your back to encourage airflow without compromising balance. The fit feels immediately dialled in — padded shoulder straps and an anatomically shaped hip belt give it a close, stable feel that stays comfortable through steep climbs and warm-weather miles.

Storage is spot on for day hikes. The front stretch pocket is a natural spot for spare layers or a damp waterproof, and the mesh side pockets hold bottles securely without a fight. There’s a single hip belt pocket for bits you need to grab on the move, plus a small stash pocket up front with a key clip. The shoulder strap pockets are useful too — I tend to use one for my phone and the other for a snack or soft flask. The detachable rain cover is a practical touch for days when the weather can’t quite decide.
