Our Verdict

The Julbo Renegade Reactiv 1-3 Light Amplifier sunglasses strike a rare balance between performance and everyday wearability. The photochromic lenses adjust smoothly across a broad VLT range (17–75%), which I’ve found especially useful when moving in and out of woodland, or during early starts and late finishes. The high-contrast tint sharpens trail detail without dulling colours, and the lens reacts quickly enough that I haven’t needed to take them off, in changeable light

They’re very light at 29g, and the frame sits securely with minimal bounce, helped by grippy temples and a stable nose bridge. The curved shape offers decent coverage. However, if your face is on the narrower side, you might find the lenses sit a little lower than ideal — something to keep in mind for sweaty efforts. The anti-fog coating does its job well.
