Our Verdict

The OMM TrailFire Vest is a stripped-back, breathable vest pack made for fast-paced runs. Weighing just 180g (medium), it offers a 3-litre capacity with the option to expand using OMM’s 5-litre Compressor Pod. The design prioritises lung freedom and stability, holding weight firmly at the shoulders and diaphragm without restricting movement.

I found the fit easily adjustable with the elastic cord system, and the vest sits close without bouncing. The seven pockets are thoughtfully placed for easy access—four on the front for snacks, soft flasks (up to 350ml), or small items, and a rear mesh pocket that comfortably fits a bladder or jacket. The Universal Gear Rail adds flexibility if you’re looking to attach extras, such as poles. There’s one secure pocket for valuables, but no overload of features—just what you need, where you need it.

It’s not trying to be an all-day pack, but for short races or fast missions on the hills, it gets the balance right. The edges of the shoulder straps could feel a little firm on larger builds, and the Compressor Pod is slightly fiddly to attach, especially with cold hands—but once it’s all dialled in, the vest disappears into your stride.
