The use of activated carbon means that this can be used to effectively filter water that would be much riskier than with just a hollow fibre filter as this also tackles chemicals and heavy metals, and improves the taste and color of the contaminated water.

This activated carbon filter system allows you to easily add it on or leave off your current Versa Flow set up depending on the water source you are using. This filter provides further protection  to your set up with activated carbon, there is no shelf life for the filter, simply the 680+ litres it should be able to clean before it essentially locks out.
