Our Verdict

The main feature of this Lumbar Hydration Reservoir is its use of internal “baffles”, which stop water from sloshing about in the bladder; this helps reduce sway in your waist pack. The Contour has a durable handle which aids in carrying and filling the bladder, especially if you are collecting water on the trail. If you plan to use this bladder as a “dirty” water container, the bladder is “Plug-n-play” compatible, so you can attach the HydraPaks 28mm Inline filter seamlessly, which eliminates the need to process water; you can drink on the go or use this set up as a gravity filtration device.

If you are filling from streams and water sources, the wide mouth opening lets you quickly fill the bladder. But it also allows you to turn the bladder inside out to dry fast; They have even added a hook or “drying tab” to suspend the bag and help it dry out.

The 3D design of the bag means it evenly distributes the water in the bladder and on your waist pack. This, combined with the baffles, helps make the bag stable in your waist pack.
