Comfortable at pace and stripped back where it counts, the LIM Airak 38 offers a capable blend of stability, access and airflow in a sub-kilo package.

It features lightweight and durable materials and a body-hugging vest construction to keep your load evenly distributed. To prevent overheating on the trail, you’ll find a well-ventilated back panel and a HydrapakTM soft flask with a bite valve for hydration on the go.

Our Verdict

At just over 1,000g (size S/M), the LIM Airak 38 is built for movement. The vest-style harness hugs the body with a secure, balanced fit that feels natural whether hiking fast or navigating steeper terrain. The back panel can be adjusted to bring the load closer or open up airflow — a feature that makes a real difference in warmer weather. Storage is well thought out, with stretch side pockets, a chest-mounted bottle holder (with an included 360ml Hydrapak flask), and elastic gear loops up front. There’s only one hip belt pocket, which can be removed or attached to the inside of the pack for additional storage. It’s large enough for snacks, a compass, or a compact camera — and honestly, I don’t miss the second one.

The roll-top main compartment holds plenty for a fast overnight trip or a lightweight multi-day adventure. Materials are light but hard-wearing, with reinforcements where needed and a PU coating that handles wet conditions well. There’s a small stash pocket up front with a key clip, and the walking pole loops are well-placed for quick access.
