Our Verdict

The Patagonia Hydropeak Hybrid Walk Shorts feel like a good balance between stretch and structure. At 204g (Medium), they’re light enough to carry as a second layer or wear all day without notice. The cut is clean and moves well, especially when climbing or crouching, and the waistband holds steady without being restrictive. I liked the subtle drainage in the pockets—ideal for days involving dips in rivers or sea crossings.

That said, I wouldn’t mind a touch more depth in the front pockets, especially when walking with a phone or small map. The DWR finish sheds light spray fine, and the rear mesh panels help them dry quickly when wet. This is a smart, no-fuss option that works across a range of warm-weather uses.
