The Patagonia Wind Shield Pants are perfect for cool, windy hikes. They’re lightweight, wind and water-resistant, and have moisture-wicking capabilities. The waistband is comfortable and adjustable, and the pockets are no-bounce.

Our Verdict

The Patagonia Wind Shield Pants are an excellent choice for those who value lightweight gear without sacrificing protection. Designed with a thoughtful blend of comfort and functionality, these soft-shell trousers are perfect for cool, windy days on the trail. The recycled polyester fabric is environmentally friendly and highly effective at repelling wind and light rain, thanks to the durable water-repellent (DWR) finish.

One of the standout features of these pants is the Capilene® Cool Lightweight backer, which offers impressive moisture-wicking capabilities, ensuring that you stay dry even during high-intensity activities. The waistband is particularly well-designed, with soft brushed terry fabric that adds warmth while effectively managing heat buildup. The adjustable drawcord allows for a secure fit, which, along with the no-bounce side pockets, makes these pants incredibly practical for long hikes.

The Wind Shield Pants are remarkably light, weighing just 248 grams (for a medium size).
