The Exped Ultra Pump is a neat little multitasker. It offers an efficient way to inflate your mat and a handy camp light in one lightweight package.

Thanks to its light function, the Ultra Pump also brings light into the dark as a camping lamp with three light levels. The integrated handle makes it possible to attach the lamp to various places in the tent and at camp.

The Ultra Pump has a rechargeable battery and a practical USB-C connection. Thanks to the adapters supplied, the pump can be used with all EXPED mats and many other inflatable products.

Our Verdict

The Exped Ultra Pump takes the effort out of inflating my mat at the end of the day—no more blowing into a valve or wrestling with a pump sack. It inflated my mat in a few minutes, though I needed to top it off with a few breaths to get it fully firm. The included adapters worked well and paired seamlessly with my Exped mat without faffing about.

The built-in lamp was a pleasant surprise. With three brightness settings, it’s enough for reading or lighting up the tent, and the small integrated handle made it easy to hang from a loop inside. I liked that it recharges via USB-C, so I didn’t need to carry a different cable. Battery life was in line with expectations—plenty for a few inflations and some evening light across a couple of nights.
