Our Verdict

Built for serious weather and long days in the hills, the Ridge-Seeker offers dependable protection and strong sustainability credentials. This is a hard shell that doesn’t shy away from winter use.

The Gore-Tex ePE membrane is a significant advantage here—this newer version of Gore-Tex utilises an expanded polyethene film instead of PTFE, providing the same waterproof and breathable performance while eliminating harmful PFCs. At 500g (Men’s Medium), it’s not the lightest in its class, but the three-layer build feels reassuringly rugged. The hood is properly structured and stays in place in the wind, with sufficient volume for a helmet if needed. Pit zips work well for dumping heat, and the two-way front zip gives a bit more flexibility on the move. The fit is on the generous side, especially in the sleeves and cuffs, which work well for layering but may feel bulky if worn alone over a base. Pocket placement could clash with a hipbelt.
